We have been using Druva through out the organization for virtual machine back-up, file server back up and SQL backup. This is the first cloud backup solution I have implemented, it was easy to deploy and feel that my systems had an added level of protection. I recommend it weekly to vendors and other IT professionals in my network.
- The best part about Druva is that you deploy, which is fairly easy especially with your technical rep being available for the whole process, and then you let the system do your work. If a backup fails I get a report, there is no need to check it every day or even weekly.
- The file server backup is great. Searching is easy and the capability to pull back a full folder or individual file makes life a lot easier to support my end users.
- One piece of functionality that I would like to see enhanced is the file server back up search to include folder search. File search is available to restore, but folder recovery requires you to drill down into the location of the folder to restore.

Druva Phoenix review
We have used Druva Phoenix for a little over a year now, it is our choice of tool for server backups at factory location which hosts critical data for IOT and factory ops planning. We have been extremely satisfied with the product and functionality. We are able to reduce legacy costs like tapes, backup libraries, etc.
- Simple to use, hardly had any training issues.
- Fast backup and recoveries.
- Cloud repository.

Reliable and easy to use
We use Druva Phoenix across the whole organization, we needed a robust and easy to use server backup solution to protect our on-prem virtual servers.
We started using Druva InSync a few years before using Phoenix and it turned out to be a great solution for endpoint backup, so when we needed a cloud-based backup solution for our servers, we decided to give Phoenix a try and it worked as good as InSync.

- Easy to deploy, it takes minutes to be up and running.
- Easy to use and flexible, the web console is intuitive and makes it easy to configure and monitor the status of your backups.
- Reliable. Once you have set up your policies and servers, it works by itself.
- Reporting, it can be hard to tell the actual amount of space consumed by a specific recovery point.
- DRaaS is not easy to deploy since you have to work on AWS and Phoenix.
- It does not provide a solution for Azure workloads.

The flight of the (Druva) Phoenix
We use Druva Phoenix to backup our server environment, which includes physical machines, virtual machines, and SQL databases across the whole organization. Below is what Druva addresses for us:
- Offsite backups so we didn't have to use other means to get our backups offsite. Plus our data is available if something physically happens to our location.
- We love Druva Phoenix for its ease of use. It was very easy to set up and monitor the status of all of our backups. The console is great!
- Compression and de-duplication is phenomenal. We usually are sitting at 12.6x space savings. This is incredible.
- No onsite equipment to worry about. No more tapes, tape drives, and external hard drives are needed since it is all in the cloud. Also, no need for a separate backup server. You can use the server that would have been needed for backing up for something else.
- The security. The fact that Druva encrypts everything and they cannot even access the data without being part of our organization provides comfort on the protection of our data.
- No more upgrading/updating of software. Druva takes care of all of that. When new features are added, you have instant access to them.

Druva Phoenix + VMware vSphere are a match made in heaven!
Druva Phoenix is used in our virtual environment to back up all critical infrastructure. It allows us to easily take backups and move them off-site into the cloud, which kills two birds with one stone. It's also used to quickly test our restoration efforts by pulling down recent backups directly into our environment alongside the production systems.

- Interface could use a revamp to be more intuitive.
- Appliances could do more snapshots at a time.

We use Druva Phoenix across our entire companies data centers to provide secure and easy to access cloud backups for our sensitive systems. We especially like how easy it is to manage backups for all virtual machine types and their ability to recognize software types across the various systems.

Druva Phoenix small business use case
We are in the healthcare industry and we have in-house servers that have HIPAA information that needs to be backed up off location. We use Druva Phoenix as our daily backup solution. It is HIPAA compliant, and they signed a BAA with us, so that gave us good peace of mind that our information would be in good hands. On top of that, the system is pretty easy and intuitive to use. The pricing structure for being a business solution beats other vendors such as Barracuda. We have had a couple of scenarios already where we need to recover some pieces of information, and the recovery process has been fast and easy. There is also an account manager that reaches out to you every now and then to know if things are working properly. The only thing that you should be aware of is which product are you hiring from their line of products. Phoenix is oriented to servers only, and it requires a server operative system, if you need to backup endpoints, you will need a different product.

- It is cost-efficient in comparison to competitors.
- It is HIPAA compliant.
- They sign a Business Associate Agreement with your organization if necessary.
- Depending on the size of your business, it can be cost-prohibitive since the minimum purchase is a year's worth of service.
- You do need someone who knows what they are doing to set up the backups and make sure you don't over-consume your credits with crazy retention policies.

Druva Phoenix: The Right Stuff
We use Druva Phoenix to backup critical data on both Linux and Windows Servers for our organization. These servers provide a variety of uses from web servers, databases, financial packages, business analysis, and reporting. The issue we brought Druva Phoenix on to solve was we had local backups at our office and colocation, but they are only a five-minute walk from one another. If anything happened catastrophic in this location we would not have usable backups for business continuity. The ease of use with the Druva inSync product on the desktop side led us to give Druva Phoenix a try, and we're happy to be a customer of both products.

- We haven't had trouble running the client on unsupported versions of CentOS, but we would like them to keep up as we won't sacrifice VM security because of the backup solution.

Review of Druva Phoenix as a DRaaS solution
Druva Phoenix is a tool which aims to simplify backup and recovery. Essentially a DRaaS service running on the cloud, this improves ROI by reducing the costs associated with a cold DR on premise site. With cloud scale, there is also no need to worry about right sizing your backup infrastructure as it is all taken care of in the cloud.
Currently we are using it to back up virtual machines in a VMware environment. Primarily the role of Phoenix within the institution is a DRaaS solution which allows us to quickly get the service up and running should there be an outage within the institute, e.g. DC power failure, network disconnection.

Druva is to cloud backup like Amazon is to online shopping! It just works and it's a great deal!
We use Druva Phoenix to simply back up our all of our VMs, which includes domain controllers, application servers, SQL server, file servers, etc. Since we are not-for-profit and are in the social services industry we are required to have a long retention policy and with the dedup technology that Druva offers it has proven to be a cost effective solution that solves our business needs.

We back up several hundred production servers with Phoenix. It is our primary backup system.

Druva
We use it for backing up users' info, desktops, and documents for safekeeping. The issue that we have seen come up in a few instances is that some of the computers with a lot of information constantly freezes and causes the computer to not back up. This program fixes that issue for us, and it makes the customers happy.

Druva Phoenix POC
During a proof of concept (POC) evaluation, we found Druva Phoenix to possibly be a usable candidate for backing up the guests in our VMware infrastructure that uses a stretched vSAN cluster as storage over 2+1 data centers and segregate multiple departments by VM folders (multi-tenancy with daily automatic detection of new guests).
- Cloud-based solution for off-site storage with possible local (cloud) cache to increase performance.
- Easy to use interface, Active Directory Single Sign-On (AD SSO) for authentication and relatively simple deployment of virtual proxy servers.
- Good support structure. We had an issue where our third data center with just vSAN witness hosts that have no storage attached prevented automatic discovery. After increasing the logging level with support, engineering was quick to find the problem and provide a patch that could be installed on the proxy servers.
- The reports and analytics are rather primitive and bare, and cannot sort columns. New data/duration (throughput) would be nice for instance. CSV exports combine date and time (harder to use in a spreadsheet).
- Cannot create an API token within just the Druva Phoenix (as Phoenix Cloud Administrator, let alone multi-tenancy scope).

Druva Phoenix, A Price to Pay to Not Worry About Back-ups
Druva Phoenix is currently being used to back-up all of our company's servers and important information. I work for a holdings company that shares IT assets between 5 affiliated companies. All of the companies are able to benefit from our server back-ups. It solves our need to constantly maintain an off-site backup as well as gives us additional options and peace of mine in case of a disaster. Having Druva Phoenix means I know our data is backed up and safe, and we no longer have to worry about data loss.
- Back-up policies with complete clarity of what is being backed up and how often.
- File-level restores.
- Deduplication of data to provide fair and effective usage of Druva's credit-based billing system.
- Support. Once when I had an open case during set-up, I heard more from the support team than I did their salesmen which really shows their dedication to solving issues.
- Their pricing and credit usage structure can use some refinement. We had a hard time knowing and learning how much space our data was going to take up which made billing/pricing a hard question.
- More Hyper-V support, particularly with their Disaster Recovery options which is still currently VMWare only.
- There error self-help page. Some times a back-up for a day will fail. Most of the time they will have an error attached explaining why. I have noticed sometimes not only will it not show an error at all, but not all of their errors are also documented.

Druva Phoenix Review
We started using the product at the beginning of 2019 when we migrated from a different company. We use the product to back up many of our Virtual machines and some data folders from our user home folder. We do not have to worry about storing tape backup on-site or have to worry about securing them.

Best product on the market.
We use Druva Phoenix to backup our entire VMWare environment, NAS, some physical servers and SQL DBs.
- VMware backups - no client needed, just needs to be able to take a snapshot
- NAS backups, ease of configuring files/folder to exclude.
- Full system restores take just seconds to set up
- Cloud cache is not the easiest to set up
- Does not dedup SQL data very well
- Random failures when Druva is doing maintenance

Awesome
Phoenix agents are installed on servers, and backup server data according to the schedule defined in the backup policy. At the scheduled time, Phoenix Cloud initiates backups from servers on which Phoenix agents are installed.
- If you or another administrator initiates the first backup, Phoenix performs a full backup. All subsequent backups triggered by administrators are incremental backups.
- Druva Cloud Platform Console is the starting point from where you administer data backed up from the configured data sources. It is the first page you see when you log in.

Druva Phoenix - Great server backup solution
We are using Druva Phoenix as our backup solution for our entire company in the VM environment and any On-Prem servers.
- User interface is very simple yet detailed to use
- Install is very easy
- Agent install in the VM environment is VERY easy
- Installing the agent into Windows servers should be able to be pushed out from the interface, instead of running the exe locally.

An Amazing Modern DR & Backup Solution that just works!
We utilize Druva Phoenix as our Disaster Recovery vendor, as well as our off-site backup provider. Their tools allows us to safely recover any file we need for immediate recovery. Their Disaster Recovery service will allow us to bring up our environment in AWS within an hour or two.
- It just works well. After the setup and configuration, the backups work as they are intended to work.
- We run DR tests once or twice a quarter and the test has always been successful.
- Their support has been very helpful with any issue we have encounter.
- Not much to report for needed improvement. We have been very happy with their current offering.

We are currently using Druva Phoenix as our on prem backup solution. The IT Infrastructure team is the primary users of this software. We use this as our file level and VM Level backup and recovery tool.
